Training in Information Technology, a necessary step after raising awareness

In ICT Businesses we have spoken throughout the last articles of the digital transformation that many companies are doing to achieve more agile, automated, adaptable and efficient processes.

Undoubtedly, the future of the company goes through the digitization of practically all its areas of action and work to a greater or lesser extent, and in increasing the investment in R & D  as demonstrated by many success stories in the most varied sectors.

Within this process of digital transformation, another essential step is the training of professionals so that once we have the right technology, they can manage it properly to get the most out of it .

All professionals involved in an SME must have the necessary training  in the technologies used to be part of the digitalization of the company and be more productive and effective.

The training and training of the entire SME team will further increase the potential of the company to improve its income statement.

If we start from a very basic level, there are currently essential knowledge related to information technologies that every SME should ensure in their team of professionals. In the case of human teams or departments that come from more traditional methods, the company must accompany them in this process of digital training that, finally, will positively revert to the whole company.

Let’s know some basic formations that are already a ‘must’ for the professionals of any company:

Email : an elementary aspect in the communication of an SME and that every employee should master.

Navigation : knowledge of the network, conducting a search, having reference pages for searches and navigation notions are also basic for any professional team.

Computer security : even at the basic user level, it is essential that the team have knowledge of computer security and network security to avoid external threats due to errors that can be easily avoided.

At a second level, there are other very important aspects of information technology that professionals should know:

Social networks : can be a very important element for any SME within its strategy. Although they do not directly intervene in them, it is important that the professionals of a company know what social networks exist, what function they have and what type of action is the most correct and responsible.

Task management tools : this is a very important aspect that can streamline many processes. Once an SME has chosen a way of managing tasks, it is very important to train staff to use a web tool, mobile app or management software to keep good control of tasks.

Project management tools : as in the previous case, SMEs must have a good management of each project. In this case, there are very interesting solutions to manage projects, preferably in the cloud, which will allow professionals to interact in the same space and record tasks and processes of each project.

Finally, there is a third level of software more complete and specific on which SME professionals should also receive the correct training for optimal use:

Customized software for companies : for SMEs that have opted for customized company software, customized to their needs, it is essential that the human team knows how they work, the permissions they have and the tasks or actions they can perform.

Client management software (CRM) : in a more specific environment, many SMEs opt for CRM software to manage their customer base, register calls, status of each, etc. It is important that the professionals of the company that must use this solution have a thorough knowledge of all its functions.

Accounting software : it is another type of specific solutions involving a specific type of professionals. As in the previous case, having a complete training of the possibilities, functions and processes that we can perform will be capital to bring a perfect control of the balance sheets of the company.

Production software : the digital transformation has led many companies to incorporate advanced technological solutions for production control, or devices and software that intervene directly in the manufacture of a product. The professionals responsible for these processes, usually with advanced training in computer science or engineering, should also know perfectly the new solutions of the company to transform them into greater effectiveness and productivity.

The training needs of SME professionals can be high and require several courses, of different specialties and over a prolonged period of time. To ensure proper training, those responsible for the company should choose the best way to transmit knowledge to employees, be it in basic, intermediate or more advanced courses.

The trend of recent years shows how companies have opted for elearning as the main method to train their employees. In fact, there is nothing better than training on issues related to ICT in their own environment, the network.

Among the most outstanding advantages of this technology, is the cost savings, the flexibility of schedule and location, or the ease of updating the contents.

The facilities offered by this methodology combine standard training on all types of issues related to Information Technology and Communication, along with other training called ‘in company’ that are also made online and deal with specific aspects of the company.

A study by Edtech Digestv figures in 255,000 million dollars the turnover of elearning in 2017 (next to the 166,500 million in 2015). Of the total, the elearning business training would represent almost 15%, around 37,500 million dollars. North America leads the numbers of investment in elearning, although in the other continents there is also a noticeable growth of online training.
